July Sizzles
Latest News:
Lots of new art this month! That’s how I like it!
There are three new paintings for print release:
Midsummer Run: a Chihuahua playfully running through a field of dandelions and puffs at sunset. A cheerful celebration of fun summer times with our dogs.
Reflection: a graceful Podenco trots along her favorite beach, on a quiet breezy evening. We can almost hear the gulls crying as the sun slowly sinks lower in the sky.
Sweet Chihuahua: (coming soon) A golden Chihuahua with an adorable head-tilt that we can’t resist. This one has a mood of cute, sweet, softness that defies the seasons.
There is also one new original drawing in charcoal, Freedom 2, that I just finished last night. This will be making its way into the shop soon, as well.
In The Studio:
In addition to the above mentioned artwork, I’ve been working on some general updates to the website:
There is now a discount code for 15% off your order being offered for subscribing to the email newsletter, that will be sent to you automatically when you confirm your subscription.
There is now an FAQ (frequently asked questions) page. This is a work in progress, I am sure there will be additions and edits, but it’s a good start. And there is a certain cute quizzical Chihuahua as the featured image.
Upcoming art goals include saving for some new paint. I would really love to get some oils, I used to love painting in oils and I haven’t had any in decades. Realistically, my wallet will not allow this to happen just yet. The investment isn’t just the paint, but brushes, medium, and boards or canvases. So I’m planning on getting a set of gouache paint. It’s an opaque watercolor that will allow me a lot more freedom than just transparent watercolor. And since I can use all the brushes, paper, and palettes that I already have, the investment is much smaller.
I don’t know if I will be able to get the new paint in this coming month, but it’s definitely on the list!
At Home:
In my personal life, my main priority for myself has been to slow down, to put less pressure on myself to get as much done as possible. To shorten and simplify my to-do list, and plan for downtime every day where I just relax, enjoy the lovely weather, the sounds of the birds and the breeze, and enjoy the company of my wonderful dogs.
This shift has worked wonders in lowering my stress and anxiety. And, oddly, I feel like I’ve gotten more done…at least more art. I am definitely going to try to continue down this path, moving forward.
For those following the Podenco with PLE (protein-losing enteropathy) journey, my sweet lad has been back on his former antibiotic, metronidazole, for a month now (along with steroid budesonide). His protein levels have come back up into the normal range at his last recheck, this past week. So, while metronidazole may not be the best medication for long-term use in general, it’s the one he needs. He’s bouncy, playful, and happy, at least when it’s not sizzling hot outside, so I’m happy with that!
The little man is doing well, although he does like to keep me on my toes! He ate a mini cupcake wrapper the other night and my worry-too-much-about-everything brain went into overdrive. Of course, he never missed a beat, was his normal silly self, and everything came out fine, lol.
Wishing all of you much leisure time and relaxation! Lots of time spent doing what you love with those you love the most, it’s priceless!
Thank you so much for being a part of this wonderful journey!
God bless!
