December
Latest News:
Two new oil paintings were completed in December. The first is an artistic take on Galgos Del Sol’s Phoenix, and the second is a small head study of a white Galgo.
The Phoenix painting depicts him with large colorful wings, a survivor that has overcome great trauma and is well on his way to healing and thriving.
If you’re not familiar with his story, he was found on the streets in Spain, covered in chemical burns (acid). A horrific thing to have to endure.
He was taken in at Galgos Del Sol and, with the help of their amazing team of staff, volunteers, and supporters, Phoenix’s burns are now almost completely healed. This painting was made specifically to donate to the next GDS fundraising auction, whenever that happens to be.
The second painting is a smaller canvas, a portrait of a white Galgo. It should be ready to varnish soon. A wonderful woman has already messaged me to reserve it, but if she changes her mind, I will get it into the store!
In The Studio:
It doesn’t come as a surprise that I learn something from every painting I make. Sometimes it’s about mixing colors or trying to capture a mood with the light. Sometimes the lesson has more to do with the process I use to make it, my preferences.
I decided to do some smaller paintings to try to increase the quantity, to speed up the learning process.
I don’t want to rush them, but I would like to get more efficient with my process, and also improve my overall ability.
I’m looking forward to the practice.
At Home:
While most of December was moving along nicely, looking forward to the holidays, right before Christmas tragedy struck.
My incredibly sweet, gorgeous Podenco, Romeo (GDS Spoc), suddenly became gravely ill and I was forced to let him go. Life will never be the same.
All I can do is cherish every memory of all the wonderful time we had together. Such an amazing boy!
I picture him running, and playing, and making mischief on the other side. Reconnecting with our little Chihuahua angel, both of them watching over us. And he can eat anything he wants! No more restricted diet due to IBD and PLE (protein-losing enteropathy), anything goes!
The little guy and I are a bit lost without him. Gradually finding our way. The little man has never been an only dog. He’s learning to take on all the responsibility of being the only focus for all the hugs, kisses, toys, and treats. It’s a tough job, but he’s handling it with grace!
I hope that your holiday season has been festive and bright! Filled with lots of love and treats and the pitter-patter of precious paws in the house!
God bless!
