November 2024

Latest News:

There is one new digital painting to show for my efforts in November. Friends And Neighbors is a small group of happy, playful dogs that share a little neighborhood on a hill.

It depicts a lovely autumn day, with the dogs outside, enjoying the fresh air and each other’s company.

It was fun to paint this pretty fall day, trying to enjoy every last minute of sunshine before the snowy weather sets in.

In The Studio:

I’ve been a bit down on myself in terms of art, because I feel like I’m not getting much done. I feel busy, but I’m not sure where all the time goes. How is it that I used to get so much more art done?

I put the course I’ve been taking on pause so that I could get this recent painting done. This one has taken me an unusually long time. I didn’t have a super clear vision for it, so there’s been a lot of figuring it out as I go. This definitely takes longer than when I see it more clearly from the start.

I’ve also noticed that my posting on social media has fallen off dramatically, across all platforms.

When I’m busy or tired, I usually try to at least keep up with Instagram...but I’ve been feeling drained and haven’t even managed to post there very much.

I really want to get back into the rhythm I used to have. I feel best when I’m making 3-4 drawings/paintings a month and posting on all accounts at least weekly.

Maybe it’s just the time of year and how busy things have been at work (day job), and it just leaves me with less energy, mentally and physically. Or maybe that’s just an excuse.

At any rate, I need to find my rhythm again!

At Home:

November brought more old house repair issues. I discovered a small leak from a pipe in a wall. These types of things always give me great stress. Having to find someone to fix it, be there for the repair (usually missing time at work) and the cost of the repair all weigh heavily on me.

After several phone calls and multiple repairmen out (and four days without the use of the shower or main sink) it’s finally fixed. I’m relieved, but it will take me a few days to decompress from that stress, lol!

More importantly, the dogs seem to be doing well.

My little (mostly) blind boy seems stable. He eats well, gets around the house and yard reasonably well, and gets playful a few times a day. I worry about him, but he seems pretty happy.

The Chihuahua is definitely doing good. She’s a ball of happy, silly energy and has never met a morsel of food she didn’t like!

I hope that your November has been pleasant and low stress, with many happy plans for the coming holidays!

God bless!

Jennifer
