October 2024
Latest News:
As I have been working my way through an online art course, I (once again) only have one finished painting to show for October.
It’s a sweet, black and white Italian Greyhound running gleefully through a meadow at top speed. Even dogs just need to get outside and touch grass sometimes, right?
In The Studio:
At the moment, all of my art time is being used to cover course material, watch feedback videos of other students, and work on the assignments for the class I’m taking.
I’m finding it very interesting, there’s a lot to absorb.
In the meantime, all of my regular ideas for paintings and projects are on hold.
It’s a little sad, but I need that silly day job to pay the bills, so my art adventure needs to fit into my spare time. If you have any special hobby in your life, I’m sure you can relate!
At Home:
Home life has been busy, but otherwise pretty good. The construction project on the sewer in front of my house is wrapped up, and it’s quiet again.
I got to go see a play last night with family, A Midsummer Nights Dream. It was very good, and this presentation of it was quite funny. We also had a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant, the whole outing was a special treat.
The dogs are doing well.
I got the follow up blood tests from my little man and, although his liver enzymes weren’t completely normal, they have definitely improved from the prior test. The prior results weren’t terrible, but enough that we wanted to check up on them.
With his liver values improved, we went ahead and cleaned his teeth, and did a few x-rays to check his liver while he was under anesthesia (so it would be less stressful for him). The x-rays show that his liver looks normal, and the dental went smoothly with no extractions needed.
The only concern I had was that I felt it took him a lot longer to fully recover from the anesthesia than it did last time, which was only a year ago. I know this can be normal in older dogs, but I’m going to check with the vet anyway, in case there is anything we can do to make this easier on him in the future.
He also had his first appointment with his new ophthalmologist this month. Going to a new vet at a new clinic was very stressful for him. I didn’t like it nearly as much as the last ophthalmologist, but since he moved out of state, I don’t have a lot of options. I’ll see if the next appointment (in January) goes better.
In the meantime, his eye pressure is still in the normal range. It’s not as low as before, but still normal.
The spunky Chihuahua is doing super! Her joyful, squirrel-chasing energy brings much happiness to the household.
I hope that your October has been peaceful and enjoyable!
Thank you for being here!
God bless,
Jennifer
