Spring Ahead
Latest News:
The “Latest News” section is a little lacking this month. I haven’t created much in the way of finished artwork, and the main one, Treasure, was one of those just-for-fun pieces. It celebrates St. Patrick’s Day and spring, and the treasure of quality time with those we love. With a cotton candy palette and playing dogs, I aimed for happiness all over!
Moving ahead, I need to brainstorm some fun ideas for spring. I love seeing everyone’s photos and videos with their dogs in beautiful flowery spring! It looks like most of you are a little further into spring than my area is, it’s inspiring and gives me something to look forward to.
In The Studio:
One of the things that I love to do is take online art classes. It keeps the ideas flowing and my skills growing.
I hadn’t worked through a class in a few months while I got the website launched, and then time was tight through the holiday season. But I finally got into another class, one on charcoal drawing. I’m really enjoying it, though I wish that I had more time to practice. I find that the assignments really help to push me outside of my comfort zone, and I’ve been happy with the results.
In traditional mediums (as opposed to digital), I really tend to play it safe. I’m always afraid that I’m going to ruin it. But these assignments push me to be more bold, and I like it. I also find that the principals being taught apply to any medium, so they will help me beyond just charcoal drawing.
At Home:
My Podenco just had his first check-up after completely stopping Prednisone, and so far things look good. We’ll see in a few weeks if he’s good to stay off steroids. If you’re curious, we are managing Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE). His seems to be caused by a bacterial dysbiosis in his gut, for which he will need lifelong management with medication. Currently he’s feeling great, daily zoomies in the yard, super playful, and full of mischief.
Thank goodness that the little man’s health is good! He loves his rowdy play, tug and wrestling, but also lots of sweet loving snuggles.
While I don’t have any spring flowers yet, the ground has thawed (at least for now), and there has been a lot of rain. I’m deep into the muddy paws part of spring, but I really don’t mind it. They can chase squirrels and sprint in the yard, and I like watching them enjoy life, so I’ll deal with the mud. And there’s something about paw prints that’s always a bit charming…even if it’s in mud on my tile floor.
Wishing all of you much sunshine and spring flowers in the weeks ahead! God bless!
