Stepping Into Fall

Dog art oil painting whippet at sunset digital painting Galgo on sofa in sunshine

Latest News:

There are two new paintings for the month of September.

One is Checking In, oil on board, 9 x 7 inches.

Off in a field on an evening walk a graceful hound checks in with his favorite human.

I’m still waiting for this one to completely dry, then I will varnish it and get it into the store.

If you’re interested in it, I am letting email subscribers know about new releases before everyone else, and you get a 15% off discount code for signing up…just something to think about.

The second painting is Lounging Galgo, a digital painting. A light-colored Galgo with beautiful Amber eyes relaxes in the sun on her forever sofa. Just living the sweet life!

This is a new print release, feel free to check it out!

*As I get ready to send this off to email subscribers, the print store is currently down, due to technical issues with my site host. I am sorry for the inconvenience, and I am trying to get resolved quickly. September 27, 2022

In The Studio:

The biggest news in the studio this month is that I finally got a small set of oil paints! I’ve been wanting them for sometime, hoping that I can work toward making some paintings that have the aesthetic with color and light that I like to paint digitally, but in a traditional medium. Checking In is my first oil painting in about 30 years, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out!

I’m in the process of another oil painting, trying to overcome some challenges, but one of the things I love about oils is that I can rework and fix parts that aren’t working. So, there is a Bounding Podenco painting on the easel, that I hope will come together soon!

At Home:

September has been filled with so much really gorgeous, moderate weather. I am trying to make the most of it, getting the dogs outside and enjoying it as much as possible (these gorgeous days are numbered)!

We have been playing outside every chance we get, and I have also been very much enjoying the lingering flowers. Some roses, nasturtiums, petunias, etc. They are beautiful and won’t be around much longer.

One of the things that my dogs most enjoy with their time outside is chasing squirrels. The squirrels have always made me nervous because they are too trusting for their own good. They don’t run as soon as they should, they let us get way too close. Well one of them, sadly, paid the price. My Podenco is fast, but my little dog is like a rocket…and he caught a squirrel. Then the Pod joined in. I know it’s one of those “mother nature“ things, but it still made me sad. The dogs thought it was the best day ever. Just doing dog stuff. My biggest concern was for their safety but, thankfully, there wasn’t a mark on either one of them.

Just recently, the beautiful late summer weather has taken a hard turn toward fall. Much cooler and very rainy. It’s beautiful in a different way, but definitely less outdoor time now. I’m sure there are still some lovely weather days left, and we will be cherishing every one of them!

As always, I send you a heartfelt thank you for being here. Having people that relate to my art, and life with dogs, that don’t seem to mind my quirky ways, means the world to me!

I hope that you have had a fabulous September, filled with many cherished moments with your dog(s)!

God bless!

Jennifer
