March

Latest News:

The most notable project for March is probably that I finally animated something, for the first time!

It’s a little white and tan Chihuahua, holding a balloon that says “love”. It’s not exactly action packed, she just tilts her head back-and-forth, blinks, and winks a few times, while the balloon floats around on a string.

It was a fun project and I definitely learned a lot, even though I’m not even scratching the surface of what is possible with animation.

I look forward to doing more in the future.

In addition to the animation, there were also a few traditional drawings/sketches done this month. An Italian Greyhound curled up on a chair, done in charcoal, another Italian Greyhound in pencil, running like the wind, and a Whippet laying on a very fluffy bed, also in pencil. All in all, a fun month of dog art.

In The Studio:

One of my most recent projects, surprisingly, isn’t dog related.

There is a solar eclipse happening in April, and I live in an area where the full total eclipse will be visible.

Instead of buying a T-shirt to commemorate this event, I decided to make one for myself.

I made a design that I’m happy with and ordered the shirt. We’ll see how it turns out.

While I was ordering the eclipse shirt, I took the opportunity to order two other T-shirts as well.

Last year I made Podenco and Galgo t-shirt designs. I don’t remember if I got distracted by the next project, or if it was a lack of funds, but I never had them printed on the shirts. So these will be coming soon, along with the eclipse shirt.

At Home:

Things have been mostly quiet at home… I’m always so grateful for things quiet and uneventful at home.

I’m just trying to get all errands done and have essentials stocked up well before eclipse day.

They anticipate a huge influx of people to the area to see it (2-4 times the usual population). They expect traffic to be a nightmare. My plan is to stay home. As long as it isn’t too cloudy, I can see the eclipse just fine from here, and I want no part of the traffic jams that are expected.

My sweet little blind dog has his next appointment with the ophthalmologist soon. I’m praying that we are still successfully managing his eye pressure with the medications he’s on.

In the meantime, I got bells! One for myself, and one for my Chihuahua to wear, so he can hear us and keep track of where we are.

The bells are different from each other so that we each have our own unique sound. I feel like it has definitely helped his confidence, in general, and much more with regard to playing with the Chihuahua. As she runs around, he can keep track of where she is now, making it easier to engage in play.

I know that they will never be able to play like before, with no eye contact the dynamics of the game are different, but it always warms my heart to watch them play together.

I hope that your March has been peaceful and bright!

XO

Jennifer
